As young women, breast cancer can seem like the least likely illness for us to get. However, as with most illnesses, especially one’s like cancer. Anything is possible. Which is why it is important to know as much as possible about it. Even if it seems like it would never happen. For those who don’t know, breast cancer is a type cancer that develops from breast tissue. Signs of breast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the nipple, or even a red scaly patch of skin on your breast.
Did you know that cancer has killed more people then Aids worldwide? Scary I know. That is why it is important for us to examine our breasts on a regular basis and also once in a while go for a full body examination. Especially because when cancer is detected in its early stages chances of treating it becomes higher. So ladies, check yourself and tell all the women in your lives to do the same.
Also try find an initiative or organization in your area to learn more about breast cancer and other types of cancer. At GirlZtalk we are huge fans of the cancer walkathon’s by Justin and Avon and we try to go when possible. Partly because these initiatives bring about awareness to the people and it they also are a great way to raise funds in a fun and healthy way. And don’t forget to ask questions about breast cancer next time you walk past your nearest clinic. After all, information is power.
